Designed for a family that loves to gather, this kitchen renovation transformed a tired, traditional space into one built for cooking, hosting, and everyday life. Rethinking the existing floor plan allowed us to improve circulation, create a more functional work zone, and make room for a generous central island—all while bringing warmth and character to the heart of the home.

A tired, traditional kitchen needed to become a beautiful, highly functional space for hosting large family gatherings. The existing layout included separate doorways to the butler’s pantry and powder room, creating an awkward circulation path that sent family members—and especially the grandchildren—directly through the cook’s work zone.

We closed the doorway to the powder room, creating a more functional L-shaped perimeter and giving guests greater privacy. Access to the walk-in pantry was reversed to the opposite side, further improving the kitchen’s flow.
Relocating the cooking surface to the perimeter made room for a generous island featuring a Galley Workstation. The chef’s sink allows for food prep while staying connected with family and guests, while the original sink beneath the window was repurposed as a dedicated cleanup area.

A soft, light neutral was selected for the perimeter cabinetry, contrasted with rich walnut on the island and hood trim. The client’s Carrara marble table inspired the material palette, with Carrara continuing along the perimeter and into the butler’s pantry.
French Blue Quartzite makes a statement at the island, complemented by a soft blue backsplash tile. A tile-lined coffee station tucked behind pocket doors keeps everyday essentials accessible without cluttering the countertops, while glass-front cabinetry provides space for display. Brass lighting and faucets add warmth and a polished finishing touch.
